Nathan Hammel, MDBoard Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon Joint Reconstruction
Dr. Hammel is a board-certified fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in hip and knee replacement. He is committed to the highest level of surgical expertise and is able to provide comprehensive, individualized care for all patients. Dr. Hammel has a particular interest in tumor care, joint replacement surgery, and fracture care. Dr. Hammel is recognized as a national lecturer regarding Orthopaedic Oncology and has been invited to lecture several times at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery Annual Meeting. Dr. Hammel is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and an active Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery.
Dr. Nathan Hammel was born and raised in Pennsylvania and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Delaware, where he was a student in the Honors Program. In 1999, he earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia and graduated cum laude. Following medical school, Dr. Hammel began his five-year residency program in Orthopaedic Surgery with the Naval Medical Center located in San Diego. Dr. Hammel went on to complete a postgraduate Orthopaedic Oncology fellowship at the University of Miami Hospital under the direction of Dr. Harry Thomas Temple. Following his formal training, Dr. Hammel worked for the Naval Medical Center in San Diego as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
